Final Place Composition

Fair Use Readings

1. When a piece is imitating or appropriating another piece I believe that it should get less profit.  Although many people share ideas, when you take an idea or image directly from another source, without changing it or creating something new, you shouldn't be rewarded for that.  If you are using an image for personal use, like in your house or with your family, I believe thats okay, because its such a small pool of people.  But, when you go to the heights of making profit off of another person's idea, that is not fair use at all.

2. "Stolen Ideas:
Some artwork put into a museum thrives.  Classical paintings and sculptures and modern pieces alike all are interesting when viewed in one place.  Its nice to be able to go to a museum and look at so many centuries of artwork.  On the other hand though, Banksy and other graffiti artists thrive when they're outdoors mixing with our culture and the environment.  If they were to take that spraypainted cement wall and haul it to a museum, it would change the meaning and the rebellistic quality completely.  Although restoration of pieces can be extremely valuable for generations to come,in choosing this particular media and "canvas" Banksy is making a statement about things that don't last forever. I can appreciate how "Stolen Ideas" is saving these pieces for generations to come, but there comes a time when its really up to the artist to decide what to do and consider their original intentions.
